DIY Spa Day
Do you want to treat yourself, but don’t want to go out and pay a ton of money for a mask or exfoliant? Or do you worry about the ingredients in store-bought scrubs? Then make your own! It’s SO much easier than you’d think, and sugar scrubs are very customizable!
It’s Gift-able!
This recipe is so easy to scale up for large batches. It makes a great gift, whether you need a bunch (baby shower, wedding shower, birthday) or just a little for something like a teacher appreciation gift, these can work perfectly. Put into little mason jars (like these), slap on a tag or sticker, and that’s a premium gift right there!
Using is a Breeze
This delightful mix can be used all over your body! just massage in using a circular motion, allow to sit for a few minutes for the oil to do its magic, and then rinse off. When using on the face or lips, just be sure to be gentle! That is some of your most delicate skin and you don’t want micro-abrasions.
With how smooth and soft this scrub makes your skin, you may be tempted to use it every day- don’t do it! Exfoliating is great, but shouldn’t be done more than once or twice a week.
The Honey Sugar Scrub Recipe
Alright, now what you all came here for- the recipe! The honey sugar scrub is very simple to make, and I have a dire warning for you before we go on… This stuff is deliciously addictive! Seriously, this smells and tastes so good and is made from all edible ingredients, so often it’s a glob for my face and a glob in my mouth. So if you’re trying to avoid sugar, replace the sugar with salt. It will still smell good, but you won’t be as tempted to eat it.
Honey Sugar Scrub
Equipment
- Bowl
- Measuring tools
- Mixing fork or food processor
- Container for finished product
Materials
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Oil (Coconut works best)
- 1 tsp Honey
- Fragrence of choice (use something skin-safe and preferably edible)
Instructions
- Gather all your materials together. Any sugar will work (besides powdered), but I am partial to using organic or brown sugar. Also, any type of oil will work- coconut is usually used because it is solid at room temperature. For fragrance, I used Rejuvenique oil by Monat, since it both smells great and is awesome for the skin.
- Mix all ingredients together until completely incorporated. I find that a fork works well. If doing a large batch, a food processor can mix the ingredients very well. Just be sure not to mix too long or the friction will cause the coconut oil to melt. The scrub will still work, it just may separate.
- Now put your new scrub into a container- mason jars or baby food jars work perfectly. Note that this recipe will make about an ounce of scrub, so to fill most containers you will need to make a larger batch.
- Enjoy and try not to eat it all!
Notes
Enjoy!
I hope you love this scrub as much as I do! It’s easy to make and leaves the skin feeling so soft. It makes a wonderful gift and can be customized to anyone’s liking. So tell me- what customization did YOU make? I would love to hear all the different ways people make this honey sugar scrub recipe theirs!
